Do you dream of what you want from life? Whether it’s fame, prosperity, good health or better relationships, everyone has their dreams and aspirations. However, when you suffer from social anxiety disorder, it can feel as though your dreams have to take a backseat, albeit a temporary one. But pursuing your dreams and ambitions is a great way of aiding your recovery. It gives you a sense of purpose and a goal driven strategy that can raise your self esteem and help you overcome your social anxiety in the long run.
So to help banish those negative thoughts, here are four tips for getting what you want from life, no matter what anyone else says:
1. You are most likely to achieve the things you think about most of the time
Your thoughts are powerful tools in achieving your goals. The more you think about achieving them the more it will happen. So if you are always thinking of having a car, visualize every detail can make your conscious mind hook on to those desires. Learn how to attract what you want and you can be able to surpass every challenge, obstacle and issue that gets in your way.
2. What you concentrate on grows
Choose whatever your mind focuses on. You cannot choose the events that happen in your life but you can choose how to react to them (easier said than I done, I know). Whether you react positively or negatively it is the only thing that you can do to change the impact of the situation at hand. Manage your thoughts and cleanse your thinking. Just like what self help coach Robin Sharma says, “What you focus on grows, what you think about expands and what you dwell on determines your destiny”
3. Focus on something and you will become like it
What your mind focuses on is what you will eventually become. So when you dwell on the negative, and the things other people say or think, you will also have a negative outlook in life. If you dwell on the positive, however, you will also be positive. Your attitude towards life is what defines your destiny and can light the path towards overcoming social anxiety disorder.
4. You will have what you concentrate on
Focus only on things that can have a positive impact on your life. Sometimes when we concentrate on something and couple it with emotional desire, our mind automatically will do everything possible to put it into action. So be careful on what we dwell on our mind, choose the things that could only give you positive result.
As Oprah Winfrey said, “Be thankful for what you have; you’ll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never ever have enough.”
But that doesn’t mean you should settle for feeling alone or afraid. Try and adopt these four positive mindsets into your arsenal and it will help you overcome social anxiety for good.
